Home Furniture Styles- Modern Furniture, Contemporary Furniture, Transitional and Traditional Style Furniture

Home Furniture styles- Modern Furniture, Contemporary Furniture, Transitional and Traditional Style Furniture.

Today, home furniture styles can be roughly divided by four big categories: modern furniture, contemporary furniture, transitional and traditional style furniture. The traditional style is very well recognized. So, let’s focus on the rest three.

The style called “modern furniture” emerged at the end of the 19th century, in opposition to traditional style furniture designs. It rebelled against the old style; however, if you take a look at some of the modern furniture designs from the late 19th to early 20th century, you will be surprised how traditional they look to you. Furniture designs are changing rapidly, just like clothing designs, there are fashion trends, there are furniture shows going on throughout the world a few times a year, where world top furniture designers represent their collections.

Modern furniture is often confused with contemporary furniture and vise versa. Even though the words “modern” and “contemporary” are synonyms by definition, in the furniture world, they are treated differently. Modern furniture is often associated with something bright-colored, unusually shaped but sometimes a bit uncomfortable. On the other end, contemporary style really focuses on combining fashion and comfort. Another advantage of contemporary furniture is that it is usually priced very moderately, therefore affordable to an average American.

Transitional furniture is a sort of a comeback to a traditional furniture style without losing all the advantages of the modern/contemporary one. It is a kind of symbiosis of two styles, traditional furniture and modern furniture. We can all agree that there are situations, where one just cannot just meet his or her expectations with one style. Let’s say there is a need for a traditional furniture but the size of the room does not allow it, or there is a budget problem (transitional style furniture is often cheaper), therefore one resorts to a transitional one.

Using Mirrors In The Bedroom

Using bedroom mirrors can create a dramatic and comfortable interior, one can make mirrors an integral part of their bedroom décor. Bedroom mirrors not only increases visual space in your room, but also adds elegance and beauty. For instance, you can hang mirrors on your bedroom to reflect beautiful exterior views into your bedroom or you can position the mirrors to reflect some specific art found on the interior walls. On the same note, bedroom mirrors can be used effectively to brighten your bedroom. For instance, by placing a mirror across from a light source such as a window or a skylight, you will bring more light into your bedroom. It is therefore correct to say that bedroom mirrors form an integral part in bedroom furniture. Your bedroom furniture styles will determine the type of bedroom mirror to use. For instance, if you have large pieces of bedroom furniture, it is only wise to use large bedroom mirrors so that they can capture reflections in their entirety. Conversely, it is obvious that if you opted for pine mirrors that your bedroom furniture style should feature pine furniture. The same applies to Oak mirrors. Before choosing the type of bedroom mirror to use, take into consideration the present room, the reason why you would need the mirror. For example, your reasons for having a bedroom mirror maybe to heighten your room which can be done by attaching a mirror to the ceiling. On the same note, you can hang bedroom mirrors in between windows to add depth to the room. Better still, you can hang a floor to ceiling mirror on your bedroom wall to create an illusion of space. Pine mirrors are soft and pliable hence should be handled with care since they can easily loosen up and break the glass. On the same note, oak mirrors also require care and regular maintenance to be able to last longer. Thanks to technology, bedroom furniture styles today are characterized by inbuilt mirrors whereby you can get some bedroom furniture like the bed and wardrobes permanently fitted with mirrors. This does not mean that you shouldn’t add any mirrors into the room. For instance, in addition to the wardrobe mirror, you can have a stand alone mirror that is portable hence you can move it to natural light if need be. Another thing to take into consideration while thinking of bedroom mirrors is the color theme. If the furnishings in your bedroom are brightly colored, then you can opt to use oak mirrors which tend to be a bit dark, this helps in creating a harmonious hue in your bedroom. On the other hand, pine mirrors are bright and can blend in perfectly if your bedroom theme color is dark. By and large, if you want to save space in your bedroom, then it is advisable you go for the stylish inbuilt mirrors that come with your other bedroom furniture. the main aim of a mirror is to create an illusion of space, in addition to obviously seeing yourself in it.
